Why Uganda?

2009 in Uganda
In 2007 we spent our summer in Spain. On the way back home I said to Lilli: “Let’s spend our next vacation in Africa.” About two weeks later Dr. Richard and Dr. Brenda Kowalske visited our church in Frankenthal, Germany. They spoke about the work they do in Bolivia, Macedonia and Uganda. A few years earlier they had founded “Helping Hands Foreign Missions” in order to effectively do medical care in those countries. While they were speaking, I looked at Lilli and she looked at me and we both new: “That was it.” Then in July 2008, Lilli and I and our oldest daughter Dijana went on our very first mission trip to Uganda. Those two weeks were enough to enthusiast us about the work with the orphans.

At the same time Dr. Richard had the idea to build an entire village for orphans in Uganda. On the "Village of Eden" children were supposed to get a grounded school education and being medically taken care of, while growing up in a Christian environment.
We were enthusiastic about the idea and together with friends we founded “Helping Hands Germany”.  We went on several more trips both to Uganda and Haiti until in 2011 we felt the call to go to Uganda fulltime.

Dr Richard died of malaria in august 2010, though this did not mean the end of the work in Uganda. Every day now the “Village of Eden” is being build.
If everything works out we will move to Uganda in the summer of 2013.

Wilhelm is going to work on the Village of Eden and train pastors.
Lilli is going to learn the language and do medical care.
